Yes, you'll need to take off the strings, remove the tailpiece, and
remove the cover plate to access the spider/cone assembly. You'll
most likely want to detach the spider from the cone to swap the
bridge saddles.

Not online, but the Paul Beard dobro maintenance video is excellent
for illustration of the innards and addressing various set-up issues.
I think there are (were) a couple web pages with some troubleshooting
info, but I don't have the URLs. Sorry.
