Chet says he can change strings in less time than it takes to tell about it. I
think he's still using those Planet Waves tuning keys, that have the built in
string cutter, and the knurled knob on the underneath that "locks" the string in
the hole on the peg. I have a set of these on "Blackie" and yeah, I can see
where putting the end of the string on the tuning key first, locking it in place,
then hooking the ball end of the string under the palm rest and into the
tailpiece and tuning it up to pitch, might be a bit quicker.
After years of changing strings on PSGs (aka double barreled egg slicer) I think
changing strings on Resos is a piece of cake......like what's the rush? Besides,
Euphonons are so che.....I mean affordable, all paying gigs should enjoy fresh
strings, and non paying gigs......who cares how long it takes?
