Frank Zappa said "if you pick up a guitar and it says 'take me i'm yours',
then that's the one for you".
Doesn't help much when you are ordering a custom guitar.
Doesn't help much if the guitar that speaks to you belongs to someone else.
If that happens, resist the urge to steal it. Stealing is wrong.
But you can find out what you like by meeting up with lots of reso players
and swapping instruments around.
I bought my Scheerhorn after watching Tim working on my busted up Holoubek.
I had been totally sceptical about the cost of his instruments before I met
him, but the care and attention he showed when fixing up what is effectively
a more or less direct copy of his early guitars was incredibly impressive.
As was the sense of a personal connection to each instrument he builds...
Good karma... can't be beat. I've bought lots of guitars over the years and
I've still got the ones that spoke to me in some way. Green strat, Collings
D2H, the 'horn and a Lowden Jumbo are all completely irreplaceable and feel
a part of me.
Jerry's new Beard looked absoultely stunning!
Happy hunting
Lennie
