Hey Listers,
My copy of Three Ring Circle showed up today and is playing as I write. Good
stuff!! It's been said on list so many times, about "Golden Age of Reso", and
"Taking the Instrument into a New Dimension" etc. etc., but this
album.......is great!
Now make no mistake, I love the sound of a resonator guitar, but I've been
playing instruments for over half a century and wayyyyy back, I learned to listen
to what the individual musicians were doing. If you don't do that already, this
is a great cd to try this line of thinking out on. The reso, the mando, and the
bass are played by three masterful musicians. This is a case where "less is
definitely more!" Oh boy is it ever!
Those who enjoy the "newer" style of playing reso, those who enjoy Jerry
Douglas, Andy Hall, are gonna L*O*V*E this cd! I'm listening to the most
outrageous mando playing as I type this, and now the bass comes in.......ahhh, my
ears are happy!
