The Webb straps have a great attachment design. The nylon is fairly thin
and is easy to get out of the way of the tuners, and removes quickly too.
It also makes a difference where you put the strap. I used to put it down
at the nut, but this can get in the way of the left hand. Now I put it
between the top and middle tuners. I figure if the guitar can't handle
this, the guitar is badly designed. The only part of the Webb strap I don't
like is the nylon on the other end. It tends to cut into my arm. I solved
that by putting a seat belt pad on it.
A friend of mine uses a keyboard stand, padded with foam, to play dobro
standing. I used this setup myself following back surgery last year, but
didn't really like it. I miss that contact with the instrument. But it
works, if you just can't stand a strap.
Good luck,
Jim Norman

Anyway, I'm struggling with the strap. I bought a Levy's leather strap. My
problem is that I can't get comfortable with the wrap around the headstock.
It seems like the strap will interfere with the tuning key. I realize this
is a fairly petty question, but I'm wondering if there's another approach
(other that sitting down all the time), another type of strap that would
seem less clunky around the headstock. Any suggestions would be
appreciated.
