On the Webb straps, there is both the leash (a loop) and then essentially a
buttonhole cut in the strap, so that after you loop the leash onto the strap
button and then wind it as much as you can, you then slip the button through
the buttonhole. But the leash is a fairly rudimentary "backup" in case the
strap slips off the button, which is why my motto is: Schaller Strap Lock.
