Hey Richie,

I kinda figured you'd chime in. Regina the Regal is strung up with a fresh
set of EJ-42s and tuned to DADF#AD. I figured I'd tune to that, even with
the floppy .056 string until she gets her confidence back. Perhaps by the
time Sterling rolls around. Looks to me like Steve did a great job
rehabilitating her and its good to have her back.

Last night, Lassie was matched up against a Deering and a Gibson. With no
other instruments, I was having trouble playing soft enough for them ojnabs
to be heard. I sure wish Clancy's was a bit further this way so I could get
up there more frequently. I was toying with the idea of Groton this
Saturday, but the wife has a violin concert.

If this list don't wake up quick, Richie and I will just keep this up.

Dan in RI

> I went to Clancey's last night and I was the only reso there!!! There
were many guitars, three (count 'em) banjos, two upright basses.....one of
which never got out of it's case, and the usual assortment of good
tunes......liquid "enhancements".......clouds of tobacco smoke, (ack!!!)
etc. etc. My old friend Don Borscheldt showed up with one of his fretless
banjos tuned in D. He's one of the first banjo players I met when I got
into this crazy music, (they don't usually include banjos in your average
C&W band,) and I've always been fascinated by the fact that Don takes a 5
string banjo neck, removes the bottom 5 frets and replaces them with a piece
of brass, so from the nut, up to the 5th string, is one continuous fret,
and Don slides around, up and down this thing tuned in D.......it's
something to hear, lemmetellya! I'm sure Don is well known on the banjo
equivalent to our reso-list, whatever it may be called.

my satisfaction. Three banjos to "Blackie" DeNeve is about the right
ratio......yeehaw!

out? I think that neck is every bit as strong now as it was when the guitar
was built.

QUIET, and I'm back from Fla., so "twangs" to y'all anyways) lol.

resonator guitarist within 500 miles of my home!" stories that too many of
you have. Any of you who want to actually see the fun we have at Clancey's
can go to "you tube" and hit their search for "gerrygoss" who is active in
the Billerica Mass. Public Cable Acess program, and who brings a vid-cam
down to Clancey's and has recently been posting some of our shennanigans on
"you tube".
