This past Saturday I was jamming at a campground shelter with a concrete
floor. My Webb strap came loose where the two pieces are joined together
(the part behind my back). My Scheerhorn went tumbling to the floor.
Miraculously, it flipped over and landed stings down on the floor. The
wooden tuning peg on the 3rd string broke in two and the screw was slightly
bent. I could find no scratches. Before the fall it had a rattle on the 4th
string and afterwards that went away (grin). I screamed when it happened and
the park ranger came running because he thought someone was hurt. I would
have felt like hurting myself if my Scheerhorn had been badly damaged. Later
on that night while picking, the strap came off the end pin twice but the
emergency string wrapped around the pin saved it. This has happened three or
four times in the past 8 years. I plan to sew the strap where it came loose
so this never happens again. Don't know what I can do to keep the strap
secure over the end pin. I know this has been discussed recently but I got
behind reading messages. There are 189 in my In-Box now that I have not read
yet.

Let me know if you see Garrett's band or web site. I missed the name of his
band and he doesn't google where I've been able to find him. I'd definitely
travel to see him play. He is outstanding. He wears a third finger pick on
his ring finger.
As a follow-up to The Lovell's and Megan's reso check out their web site:

Their album- When Forever Rolls Around is one that will get a lot of play in
my cd player.
Speakin' of albums or cds and Merlefest reso players, I didn't mention Tut.
He was there, helping in the stage jams and in the jammin' tent.

His new cd Shacktown Road with Norman Blake and others is a treat and is one
that will go around in my cd player for quite a while. It's as good, imho,
as anything he's done. You can contact him to get a copy

but then I am biased.

Garret Carter gets HUGE continual props from BluegrassRules.com folks who
are often
national touring folk or regularly playing regional folk from 'back there' .
. .
def: Back There
often referred to as The Carolina's, The Virginia's.
can often also refer to Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, and any area among the
Appalachian or
Blueridge Mountains
Most often used by Yankee's who are NOT 'back there' out of jealousy
