Hi all,
About six months ago or so, I heard Ferrell Stowe's latest album and went to his
website to
find out more info. The massive tones of the dobro just knocked me out. I saw
that Ferrell
uses Harlow resonators so I called Frank Harlow to ask him about his guitars.
He was very
generous with his time and information and we still talk from time to time.
Frank suggested
I call Ferrell and talk with him directly so I did. Ferrell is a gentleman and
was also very
gracious with his knowledge and time.
Last month I was in Nashville on business and paid Ferrell a visit to his home.
We sat and
talked a while and he let me play his mahogany, jumbo cherry and stobro
resonators. They
were all amazing in their own right but the Stobro stood out above all. I was
actually on the
list for a jumbo cherry, and called Frank to cancel the order. Now I'm waiting
for a Stobro.
Not only was it MUCH louder than the jumbo cherry, it was warmer in tone.
Ferrell was
yankin' all kinds of sounds out of the thing. I've never seen anyone play a
dobro with such
force and intensity before, and I'll tell you what, that guitar was singing.
I later found out that I was only the second person to play a Stobro, an honor I
highly
treasure. I recommend everyone checking one out. www.ferrellstowe.com will
give you all
the info you need.
