Ray Boze is a con artist that preyed upon the dobro community not just once,
but twice. He claimed to build resonator guitars and took pre-payment of
money and even trade ins and pocked the the money without ever producing a
single guitar. There were a number of other scams he ran as well. Many
people lost money or had their reputations sullied including Mike Auldridge
and Jimmy Heffernan. Two years ago, it all unraveled and he went on the
lame. The reso-nation.org was formed as a direct result of all of this.
about 8 months ago he was caught and has pleaded guilty. It affected
everyone in the dobro community and is the reason it is being discussed
here. There is tons of materials on it if you seach the archives both here,
on the reso-nation.org site and the Jerry Douglas site.
Your post though does point out one thing. He will most likely strike again
in the Dobro community. New people come in and other people forget. I will
bet money he will attempt to bilk the community again in the next few years
under a different name.
