Pete's mind is fine, but his fingers are sublime. Not to mention his
scale skills.

Mike Auldridge was not scammed by Matt Roe, largely because he sensed
that Matt was an "incompetent goof" and after a bad experience
demanded future payments up front. Well it seems that in life, and
not just in music, Mike is a very perceptive fellow. I forgot who
said it in the last week, but it is certainly true, that in his and
my experience, "anyone who plays the Dobro turns out to be a friend
of mine" and that has proved true for every player I've met including
the great ones from Mike Auldridge to Phil Leadbetter to Rob Ickes.
But that same feeling made the Dobro community an easy target for a
con-man. But it is a sad truth, both ways. We are an easy target,
because we are a small and trusting group. But we should be trusting
because, face it, we are so small a group and thus a rotten target
for anyone but an "incompetent goof" of a con-man. The stupid part of
the whole business is that Ray Boze made at best $60,000-70,000 over
a few years from this scam; that's a good chunk of money, but over 3
years, its far below the national average income. So now matter how
you look at it, Ray was an "incompetent goof."
The sad part is that the principal damage is to diminish the sense
of community, so beautifully describes with "anyone who plays the
Dobro turns out to be a friend of mine."
