For a practice amp the Roland Micro Cube is a great choice.

The club-size amp is more complicated.ccTube or solid state? Clean headroom
or crunch? Combo or separate speaker cab? Internal reverb and tremolo?
Mic or DI into the PA? Use PA monitors or rely on amp?

A good solid tube design you can check out as a starting point is the Peavey
Classic 30, and for a solid state/modeling amp, the Roland Cube 60. Without
considering price, one that I'd love to get my hands on is the Victoria
Regal.
