| Subject: | [RESOGUIT-L] Whooaa, I'm slanting... And in public... | | Date: | , June 2, 2007 16:53:24 (+0200) | | From: | don.hergert <don.hergert @.......net>

It's finally happening, I'm getting comfortable enough with slanting that I'm
integrating it into my public playing...
I've been playing with slants for months now, but never liked the extra
twangyness or the intonation issues I was having. Well, yesterday I cheated, I
took a flat file to one end of my Stevens bar, filing, then finish sanding a
1/8th" bevel at the tip, and it's made a huge difference in both of these
concerns. I don't know if it's a psych thing or if it's really helping, but
I'm
finally liking the sound of my slants. They're not perfect by any means, but
they are getting closer to my liking now. YEAAA...
And just in time too, I'm being filmed by a little local TV station this
afternoon playing a few sets with a fairly large band today, I'll be on square
neck and banjo :) .
Best,
-- Don
