Just returned from the Wind Gap Bluegrass Festival in Pa. and what a good
time it was. Perfect weather, packed crowd, and awesome stage shows.
One highlight was Junior Barber and his band "Beartracks". Many reso
artists while they are impressive players, their notes seem to run together
while playing through a sound system. Not Junior. Every note comes out crystal
clear, and his DeNeve (s) cut the mike like a razor blade.
On another note, (no pun intended) I had to use a coat hanger to wire up my
automatic steps on my motorhome, as the linkage broke on the trip down.
One of the first people I saw while waiting for the gate to open was none
other than lister and Dobro historian Randy Getz. Low and behold, he had
a brand new mechanisim with him exactly what I needed. What are the chances
of that ! I had my steps tinkered up with a cinder block I rounded up on the
grounds when Randy asked me "are you going to fix that?" I told him when
I got home I would try to. A bad case of shingles from last winter had left my
right arm pretty useless, although thanks to my therapist, it is coming back.
Randy said "I'll put it on for you". Wait a minute here,
any of you who know Randy who is always neat as a pin, and wears a white
shirt, would think this is the last person who would crawl under a vehicle
and get all grease. After some problems with a stubborn screw, and a
little trial and error, I was back in business. Thanks again Randy !
Just goes to show what a great family this is. I always said that you
can find anything you need at a Bluegrass Festival. All you got to do
is find it. Jim Warren
