I play through an AKG bug wireless for the same reason. I love not being
tethered either to the mic or a wired pickup. OK, so you still have to be
on the foot pedal occasionally. Once you get used to it though, it's very
hard to go back. And I never miss the feedback of trying to mic a dobro in
a noisy hall. Like anybody else, when the room is acoustically perfect, and
the audience perfectly quiet, then a good mic is hard to beat. But then you
can probably pay au naturel (acoustically speaking) and get away with it...
House concerts are great.
I'd like to try one of those Fishman amps.
