My group played a venue last week where the audience talks during your sets.
If that's' not lame enough, imagine feedback hell. The sound system was
decent ands the mics were SM-57s. So nothing special but, with the noise
floor of a Boston singles bar, forget it!

Now in contrast we played a small club today and people listened (mainly
because, there were musicians in the audience) and I could use a wide
condenser for myself and our vocalist. Sounds awesome! She is a serious
belter and the condenser allows her to move away from the mic. It also
allows me to shift to different parts of the guitar when playing (even if I
am sitting). I wouldn't necessarily want to try this in a large hall but, I
really prefer the large condenser as my first line of amplification.
