Hi Listers,
Been too quiet here lately, so I thought I'd jump in with some comments on some
of the reso fun I've been having recently.
Went to the BBU monthly jam at the Stagecoach Restaurant in Groton, Ma., last
night and I didn't count exactly but thinking back there were at least five
reso-guitars there and again, two of 'em were 8 stringers. Chuck O'Connor let me
play his georgeous MA-8 and that guitar is the sweetest 8 string I ever hope to
play! (Get BEHIND me Satan.....don't need any more guitars.....um?)
My friend Gerry Goss from Billerica Cable Acess TV has posted something on You
Tube that may interest this group. Jimmy Heffernan who is well known to most of
us for his teaching abilities, came to last February's Joe Val a day early, and
showed up at our Thurs. night jam, with Andy Katz. Local luthier, Steve Pierce
was there (without screen holes), and I was fortunate to be there with "Sadie"
Sho-Bro.
I recently was asked about Sadie's rather distinctive fretboard, and it shows up
pretty well in a video that Gerry Goss posted on You Tube, you can just see the
Sho-bro peeking out from under my belly......dayummm! Go to search, type in you
tube, when their site comes up, type in gerrygoss in the you tube search bar, and
click on Jimmy Heffernan vists "The Jameson Mountain Boys". There's a
considerable amount of Jameson's consumed by...........but I won't go into that!
Gerry has also posted other videos of the fun we have on Thurs. nights here in
the Boston area. One night I think there were 6 or 7 resos???
So anyways, here's poor Jimmy Heffernan seated between lister Andy Katz, and
myself, and it kinda looks like Jimmy is undecided whether to laff or cry? I
think he decided on a beer instead?
