I went Mike's site, and was reading about his "Notes of Resonation" video,
in which the following is stated: "Although not an instructional tape,
students will appreciate the many camera close-up shots illustrating Mike's
right and left hand playing action, particularly Mike's patented techniques
of palm and bar blocking."
I was not aware that Mike had patented his blocking techiques, or that a
techique for playing a musical instrument was even eligible for patenting.
I'm not trying to be facetious - in my experience, "patented" is not used as
a figure of speech, but refers to a bona fide US Patent.
