Subject:Re: [RESOGUIT-L] Deacon Brumfield and Double Thumbing

Hey, you learn something everyday...

I never knew it even had a name.

Just running through these posts before it
gets busy at work.

Most people do this without knowing it. Maybe
someone's already said this, mostly
on slower tunes is how I've used it. Not necessarily
as a roll but in intros, almost like a strum on
several strings. Something that really wouldn't work
well or easily with a "3 fingered roll".
For instance: Slide up into a closed position chord
with a start of a break and just play
4th (slide this string),3rd, 2nd strings (all with the
thumb, consecutively, then slide up again on
the 1st..(with the 1st or 2nd finger)
(example Mike's break or kick-off on Mean Woman Blues)
probably is done that way, at least that's the
way, I'd do it.
I've had that Seldom Scene, 20th anniverary CD in the
car the last few days...That tune's stuck in my mind
from this morning's commute!
"...she's leaving me to ramble on down the line, lord,
lord..., I've got the mean woman blues...Lord knows I
lose.."

Great tune!

Wally
