Hey George,
I'm just kicking myself I didn't have my camera. Curley's guitar had it's own
unique sound for sure. I'm wondering if it was due to the metal sides of the
box? I'll grant you it was a little shy in the volume department but yes indeed,
that thing sounded better than a lot of production models. It's a wonder from
it's appearance it was playable at all! I tried to see what the spider looked
like, when Curley said "I cut it outa a metal roadsign"....wow....but you
couldn't see much of anything in there atall! If he'd punched ohhh say 30% more
holes in the coverplate, that might've cured the shy volume factor, ya think?
I missed the Michael Terris reso completely, but George, if you tried to buy it
on the spot, it must've been pretty nice.
Pelletier's annual picking party is something else!! I haven't missed one in
the ten years I've been involved in bluegrass, and already I'm looking forward to
next year.
See you and Cathy then, if not before,
Richie
