Tim and everybody else on the list, what Wally didn't say was that his family
band "Fretloose" was one of the hits of the Friday night show.
There were so many great reso players there and one gentleman, Pete, from
Virginia was fantastic on his MAS and also was a wonderful teacher. Pete had the
young man from Holland playing two songs on his new Wolfe, after a half hour or
45 minute lesson, and the young man had never played a resophonic guitar before.
Everybody on the list needs to get to the Gathering some time if there's any
way. There were guitar players there who might have been flat picking champs and
there were singers that sang like they stopped by from the Opry.
What a treat.
Because nice is better.

(PDT) Tim, It's held in Wilesboro, NC. I'll let the folks who put it on say more
about it. I'm trying to find the website for it
now..
http://www.resonateur.com/page-gathering2007.htm
I'm sure they'll be
pictures and other stuff available there, soon. I know people were
filming various aspects (the show, and some of the jams). I'd heard there was a
DVD available of the show, so I'd actually like to get a copy of that. I have
some pictures, I'd like to post somewhere. Not sure who to give those to
exactly.
It's a very low key, easy going
event. Held at the Holiday Inn in Wilksboro, NC. No "workshops" per se, but a
few reso makers attended, and there's a benefit show on Friday night in
which anyone who wants to play signs up and does 2 songs. I think it was about 2
hours long.
Some good pickers from everywhere attended and alot of beginners as
well. One young guy came from Holland came to pick up his new Wolfe guitar he'd
ordered. He played acoustic guitar, but had never played reso before. So, I think
he learned quite a bit!
I'd never met Tut Taylor before, so that was a real
treat for me. Getting to meet him and hear him play.
There was alot of jamming
every night and just an overall good time.
Anyone else?
Just wanted to say hi
to anyone else we met there.
Wally
