I've received a few off-list inquiries about the Boze sentencing, which at
one point was scheduled to occur in August. It is currently scheduled for
10:30 am on September 24.
From the papers filed in the court record, it appears that Boze is
contesting part of the restitution that the sentencing recommendation
included.
Here is an excerpt from a Government motion that is all the info I have
right now on the contested issue: "Boze objects to paragraphs 28-29 and 36
[of the Presentence Report] because he does not believe that he should be
held responsible for $127,966.07. This amount is derived from Boze's
alleged scheme to defraud wherein he promoted and advertised guitar
festivals and workshops but then later cancelled them after receiving money
from potential attendees. The undersigned [the U.S. Attorney] and Boze's
attorney are attempting to schedule a meeting with the case agent to discuss
this matter prior to the government responding to Boze's objections. Both
parties are hopeful that this meeting will bring clarity to this issue and
dispense with a contested sentencing issue."
I'll try to call the authorities in Texas next week for an update, and for
clarification on the contested issues.
