funny you should mention Os... yesterday I went to a small,
regional Bluegrass gathering at a campground
a few miles south of Olympia and as I was headed for the Porta
Potty I heard Os twanging away on Great Speckled Bird.
..turns out it was Earl Stark, retired Olympia Transit driver
and slant bar player. He's got Os down cold... and
he plays with great authority.. great attack and sustain...
it was good to hear those descending 2 finger trills on the
outside 2 strings.. hardly anyone plays that way
anymore thinking it's "too old fashioned"... perhaps... but,
it puts me in the "wayback machine" every time
I hear it... and some of us are old enough to remember that's
what we heard first.. it was the sound that
hooked us in the first place... and, of course, once we
discovered F & S and Josh's amazing stuff, our
collective goose was cooked...so to speak. Whatever we're
doing, it's a great ride.. hope it lasts a long
time.
