I"ve laid out on this topic . . . but Lennie Harvey Abides!!!
Thanks hoss for saying what I would have liked to.
And, it gives me impetus to state MY personal thoughts:
Ya gotta learn it all, before you invent NEW widgets (general assumption, wide
spread pattern, not to be taken as ammo for criticism) . . .
MY goal/responsibility as I see it, is to learn as much as I can of what came
before me.
In that process, I will find MYSELF, and my VOICE somewhere along the line.
That's how it works, history has proven it in ALL artforms. Now, the DaVinci's
far surpass us all at birth, so they don't count!!!!!!
Ergo to close, learn the Os, learn the Josh, learn the St. Mike, Stacy Philips,
Flux, Rob, Billy, etc.
If you can slant both ways, pull strings, run hammer on's and pull off's in
scales, change tunings quickly, and make YOUR music with YOUR ability fit the
song and situation, then yer off to a good start!!!!
ME? I still can't figger out how to crawl over the foot high fence around my
crib!! lol
So it's back to the woodpile, er, shed!!!
Fun though!!!
