Haven't heard anything about this, is everyone
equally as disappointed?
I managed to stay awake till 12:30, I was
running around the house looking for a blank DVD to
record it, and couldn't find one....the very
last thing on the show was Emmylou's song.
I was really expecting Mike
to take a break on the tune they played.
I just heard a little bit of backup work, but
other than that I was a bit disappointed that
my dobro hero didn't get at least one of the two
breaks
in that tune. Could have been a better tune choice,
too.
"Get up John..". I never liked that alternate mando
tuning thing anyway (one of those Monroe things people
freak over). Most songs people play in those
alternate tunings on the mando are so basic and
simple, the toughest thing is tuning the mando. And to
hear
basically the same break twice...ugh.
Ok, I admit, I really didn't listen to the breaks on
the mando...I was just waiting for the dobro break..
which never happened!
At least they could have split the break between
the banjo and reso. Banjo players must have
been disappointed as well.

Poob, I am with you on hoping they "mike" Mike's
instrument properly for the show. They haven't done
well with Jerry's when he's played with Alison on late
night TV and they sure didn't do a much with the sound
of Mike's playing when he and Carolina Star played
with Emmy Lou at Merlefest recently.
Sheesh, one of the most wonderful instruments in the
world played by one of the best players ever and it
was hard to make it out. I mean I like Emmy Lou, but
where was Mike?
Because nice is better.

Mike tells me that he'll be joining Emmylou Harris on
the Sept 17 Leno show.
Presumably the rest of Carolina Star will be along for
the ride :-)
one can hope that:
a. they don't get canceled
b. you can hear the resonator guitar
