Report from the Raymond Boze sentencing hearing this morning --
The actual sentencing order hasn't been filed, but here's the word from the
U.S. Attorney's office: the judge sentenced Boze to 18 months
incarceration, plus 3 years supervised release, plus a restitution order of
$64,338.57.
Boze will get credit for the time he's already served, and he has been in
federal custody now about just a few days past 12 months, with a 9/18/06
arrest and a first court appearance in Ft. Worth on 10/18/06. So if I
understand the sentencing order correctly, he'll be released in approx. 6
months, and then for 3 years he'll be reporting to a probation officer. I
haven't seen anything yet that spells out the terms of his supervised
release, but they would typically include a requirement that he be gainfully
employed, and make minimum monthly payments toward his restitution.
I'll follow up in a few days to get the actual court order and any other
related papers that get filed in the case. If those papers have additional
details, I'll post them.
Also, I'm assuming the victims should be hearing from a representative of
the court or the U.S. Attorney's Office (perhaps the victim witness
specialist). There should be a document of some sort as a result of today's
proceeding, itemizing the specific amount of restitution ordered on a
per-victim basis.
Thanks again to everyone for persisting through this very long process. I
think this is an acceptable result, and am glad the case is concluded.
Betty
