Just a brief note. What an emotional day as Rob Ickes presented Mike
Auldridge with the Distinguished Achievement Award to a standing
ovation.
Rob's was a great speech saying (I paraphrase) "this kickoff is what
got me hooked". The screen flashes to Mike's "Dobro" release and you
hear the kickoff to "Tennessee Stud"...whew. He later pulls the same
ploy when introducing Mike's development with the eight string
reso...The presentation missed nothing, from the early work with
Emerson and Waldron to Carolina Star and everything in between
including Emmylou, Linda, Lyle, the Scene,
Chesapeake........Whew..Another standing ovation as Mike expresses his
joy.
Thank you...thank you Betty Wheeler and CBA as Mike answers questions
about his career after the awards in the privacy of the CBA suite.
You could have heard a pin drop. Mike played solo a bunch of tunes,
extolling the pickers to "let's pick".
No one dared of course........
