Dan,
Thanks. You understand me perfectly. I read the article the other day where
the four artists compared fourteen resos and they all agreed the nicest
sounding one was the Beard Goldtone. I am looking forward to hearing one.
But I will bet that Tim is proud of the one I've got. I know I am. Speaking
of which, I have to go practice more. Later.

Hi Gene, and Welcome to the world of hub-caps. Lemme tell ya, there ain't no

shame in owning a W-S or any other instrument, and not all of us own
instruments costing 4 to 6 thousand dollars. The imports today are far
superior to what was available just a few years ago.

I myself started out with a Regal RD-45 and then went from there. I still
have the Regal and it gets regular use. I confess, I do have a Tut, but if
I'm planning to go to an outdoor jam, I'd rather bring my Goldtone Beard
that arrived here after the Tut. Like Andy said, if I need to paddle the
canoe, I'd rather not use the Tut.

Practice is far more important than any brand name. Put a top-of-the-line
reso into the hands of someone that doesn't practice, and it will sound
worse than even the cheapest reso in the hands of a true player. All the
fancy inlay and custom bells and whistles won't improve your skills as much
as 30 minutes a day spent practicing. But along with practice, you also need

to LOVE your instrument. And it certainly sounds like you love your W-S.
Colonel Sanders didn't start KFC until he was 65, so hopefully you'll love
the reso as much as he loved chicken.

Regards,

Dan in RI
