Hey List,
Resophonic music and dobros were alive and well in Central Massachusettes last
night for sure. I drove from So. "Moo" Hampshire, to see my favorite band, and
my favorite dobro picker, Jr. Barber and his cousins, Julie and Tom last night,
and a good time was had by all. Beartracks ROCKS!!!
Jr. is (as always) messing around with new tunings, and he's got the D major
tuning right down pat, lemme tellya. I am told he's also working with a "Western
Swing" sounding tuning which is probably something similar to what the great
Jerry Byrd used, that I have listed as from hi to lo, E C A G E C#. Jr. plans to
use this "new" tuning on a couple of songs on their third album, which should be
released sometime around Christmas or the first of the year if all goes well.
Being the nice guy he is, he'll probably list this tuning on the album jacket, (I
hope?)
I offered money right then and there, last night!!!
All is well here, with the exception that due to the health issues of a close
family member, I've had to cancel out on Reso-Summit, but hey, there's always
next year......
You can't "have it all" but those who know me personally, know I'm doing the
bestest I can.......
Keep "twangin"
Richie
