I am, as they say in nearby Maine, wicked cheap. I buy strings from Euphonon
in bulk, and sometimes don't change them for weeks, in which case they do
sound like old rubber bands. When I do use Beards or Pearce's I love the
tone and longevity, especially that high G-string (longevity of
G-strings...dobrology is too funny).
In anticipation of ResoSummit I bought a Zoom H2 handheld recorder. Wow!
I'll use it for lessons and workshops, but I've recorder myself and my band
(the one "in a box") and the results are amazing and the feedback on my
playing (I'm just a jammer, no recording experience) very helpful. $199 w/
free shipping at several web-sellers, mine even included a free set of
pretty-good Yamaha headphones. This is similar to the popular Edirol
recorder from Roland.
Okay, enough reso content. I'm going picking this afternoon, then heading to
Fenway to see my Sox play ALCS game 7. Pinch me; my two favorite activities
with clothes on, both in one day. No predictions (except that I'll call a
F&S song at the jam), but the whole city is humming. Yeah!
