I'm with Tommy Foote on this one,
I'm also with Poob, and Jim Warren and possibly many others who I don't know
of....but.....I tried Euphonon strings a couple of years back, after Jim gave me
a set, and I never went back to my previous Dadario EFT-13s.
First of all, (half deaf old coot that I am,) I like new strings!!! Euphonon
makes this possible, and I'm grateful to them. I own several resos, and I do a
LOT of playing, so Euphonon is working for me.
I use their medium guage strings and swap out the first .013 string (useless to
me) for a .018, then I used the second string for the first, and the .018 for
the second string and so on, which gives me .017 .018 .026W .035W .045W .056W
I usually order two doz sets, with two doz extra .026 thirds, and I have them
shipped in straight lengths for a dollar extra, and I love 'em!
Now these strings come shipped in bulk. They don't come individually wrapped in
pretty little envelopes like the "store bot" strings do. I take a set, (I color
code the first string with a dab of nail polish so it's easily identified from
the second string) and put the loosely coiled set in a freezer bag, and we're
good to go.
Now I have no financial gain, all disclaimers apply, Euphonon has their own way
of doing business....you call them, usually get ans. machine, they call you back,
take your order, you send them a check and eventually your strings are mailed to
you. This is possibly not for everyone but it's sure been working for me!
Thanks Euphonon,
Richie
ps. Uncle Phil's tip on alcohol swabs works great. I've done this at festivals,
when I'm field picking, and your hands sweat, and your strings get all "yucky"
those individually packaged alcohol wipes are great. Then as soon as I have
time.....I change em! (the strings not the swabs)...... We're playing acoustic
guitars here.....new strings are your best friend.....just my humble opinion of
course.....
Keep "twangin".....and let those "twangs" be HEARD!!!!!
