Speaking of clip on mics, I've been using the Apex 165 for a bit less than a
year. I can't seem to hear the monitors over the sound coming directly from
the reso, so I guess it's got good fidelity. Folks who've heard me play
through it say it cuts through all the other instruments just fine and
sounds good. Perhaps they are just being kind, but it's certainly better
than what I used before (no mic, just really dig in and beat up the
strings). The apex does require phantom power or a pre-amp.
