I think you're right in interpreting the 'sl' as indicating a slide. If you
look at the context of the move within the song or phrase, the preceding
note is from below (i.e. you're sliding 'upward') when they use a forward
slash '/' and the preceding note is up the neck, or you're sliding down,
when they use the backslash '\'. Try that and see if it works.
Sliding to zero isn't that different - just be sure to pull up on the bar
before you hit the nut! Oh, and I'll bet there's no upward sliding '/'
before a zero. :)
