Hi George,
I'll attempt to help with this. I have a similar pre-war Regal dobro that
was originally a 7 string guitar but the body description resembles what you
have described.
Mine is a dark sunburst with a feux mahogony finish.
Slotted headstock with Chicago identifying features. Don't know about the
solid headstock.
No identifying numbers anywhere.
No 3 holes at the end of the fingerboard.
Square neck but tapered at the body (Chicago Regal clue)
No neck binding
Body has top and bottom binding
My guitar has been estimated as having been built by Regal in 1936
originally as a 7 string dobro. That's all I know.
The experts to check with are Randolph Getz and Tom Gray who know lots more
about all things dobro than I do. Hopefully they might chime in.
Mark
