Those old time musicians were incredible.  The sound they got with the 
equipment they had was nothing short of pure artistry. The guitarists, 
steel, and other wise I had the opportunity to meet back in the late 50's, 
and early 60's were the kind of guys who could get one note from one of 
those circular pitch pipes that were the norm back then, and tune the rest 
of the guitar by ear. I'll bet you that they were never on pitch as dictated 
by the modern day electronic tuners. I don't believe I've ever seen Jerry, 
or St. Mike use a tuner on stage to get the reso back to their liking.
