Sometimes I think these inexpensive tuners are not sensitive enough. One can
change the string sound but the needle doesn't move. I have 3 or 4 of them and
they are all the same.
I like to tune the top two strings together at the 3rd fret (bar the second
string and play the first string open) and to tune the 3rd and the second
together (bar the 3rd and play the second open) etc. This is the only way I know
to make sure that you can play the open strings in tune.
This was the way I was taught to tune an instrument back before tuners. So much
less fuss and soo accurate.
