Yep, I'm staying home also. I might have had time to fly to Nashville, but I
hate flying, and getting out of work this time of year, well, I don't have
enough brownie points saved up for that. That's alright though, I'm having
fun just the same.
Last night I was using 2 instruments at the gig. I brought a little A-frame
stand for Virginia to use during breaks and when it was Hazel's turn to show
off. Well, before the show, I put Virginia on her stand and before my hand
was clear, she almost toppled over backwards. Luckily, I was able to prop
her stand against a raised portion of the backstage area and she was fine.
But that A-frame is going to be given to Little Maggie (late 40s Magnatone
lap steel) exclusively, and I'll get another stand for Virginia.
My most dropped reso has to be Regina. I've had her slide off my lap (now I
use a strap even when seated) had her strap come loose from the bottom end
(strap locks have cured that) and worst of all, she fell out of her case
onto a tile floor. She landed face down, and there was noticable damage to
say the least. One screen popped out. The coverplate came off. The nut was
broken. One tuning knob was pulverized and she broke her neck right where it
joins the body. Luckily, Richie got me in touch with Steve Pierce up in New
Hampshire and Steve did a great job getting her back to health.
Richie, Thanks for making the trip last night! I know it wasn't Reso-Summit,
but I hope you had as much fun in the audience as we did on stage!
Regards,
Dan in RI
