Pickers all,
Just returned from Nashville. The first ResoSummit was no big deal. Who
needs Rob Ickes, Andy Hall, Cindy Cashdollar, Mike Auldridge, Jerry Douglas
(surprise!), Phil Leadbetter, Michael Witcher and Randy Kohrs anyway? Tim
Scheerhorn? Paul Beard? So what? You probably already knew that Three Ring
Circle, The Claire Lynch Band (with Mike Auldridge for the first time), The
Infamous Stringdusters (a.k.a. Un-famous Dust Bunnies), and Missy Raines &
the New Hip are all way over-rated, as is the Station Inn. The
accommodations weren't so hot; and as I think about it, I don't really like
playing dobro or bluegrass music anyway.
Off to confession ;)
Words cannot adequately describe all the amazing things that took place at
ResoSummit, which will hopefully be continue as an annual event. Workshops,
concerts, speed dates, and picking. What a thrill to meet so many listers,
good pickers and simply fine people. I (and many others?) will be processing
all I learned from now until I pack to return for next year. I'm looking
forward to seeing all the pictures that many of you took.
Richie, we missed you.
Thanks again to Rob for backing this, to Betty (and numerous other assisting
elves, including Dwight and the schleppers) for pulling all the strings
together, and to all the great people - teachers and students - who make it
an honor and a blast to be a dobro player.
Andy
