In regards to Kathy and her lookin for a reso:
I bought my FIRST reso from a local music store.
They had problems internally, and it took MONTHS to resolve the purchase.
Once I HAD that $300 dobro, a Johnson, I found THIS list.
Then, I learnt from all the luthiers some of the things I could do to IMPROVE my
import.
THAT cost me some money, and time, as I went to a luthier locally.
He screwed up some stuff, and I spent money to fix HIS fixes.
Then, I learnt enuff to do my OWN modifications and improvements, and order
stuff from Beard (not a stockholder but a happy customer of Beard).
A few years later, I bought a Beard Gold Tone Maple Deluxe and it BLOWS AWAY
many a dobro in all jams I've been to at fests.
It had all them danged upgrades my first $300 Johnson didn't.
By the time I was done fixing that Johnson, I had spent the same money I used to
buy my Beard GoldTone Maple Deluxe.
And my Beard GoldTone Maple Deluxe, is a hoss, and blows others away, and keeps
them damned banjo's honest, too, when I DIG on it and make it growl.
I love my Beard GoldTone, and this is MY message, and I have approved it!
Good luck Kathy, with what EVER you do . . . and don't forget to pick n grin!!!
