Smoky Mountain Guitars carries the Beard Goldtones and the Wechter Scheerhorns,
both of which would be good choices, but sound considerably different. Matt
Leadbetter often hangs out there, and if he happens to be in, can demonstrate for
you what a particular guitar sounds like in the hands of a professional. He plays
better without even looking at the fretboard than most folks do with full
concentration. Smoky Mountain Guitars is a great small, mostly high-end shop, so
you should check out the prices of the Goldtones and Wechters on-line at a big
music house like Elderly Instruments and go prepared to negotiate.
