Subject:Re: [RESOGUIT-L] Pickups and Amplification
Date:Thursday, November 29, 2007  08:44:45 (+0900)
From:Hugh Ashton <resonator @.......com>

I have a Beard GoldTone and I play a variety of styles with a variety of
different groups, so I asked for it to be built with the Fishman and the
Lace squareneck pickup installed (thank you, Howard).

These come out of a stereo jack, and go into a Baggs Mixman, allowing me to
adjust the balance between piezo and magnetic as required. Alternatively, I
can play through a Y cable, and put the magnetic through whatever
electronics take my fancy (of course, the genuine reso sound gets somewhat
lost at this point). The amp is typically whatever's available, though I'm
partial to the Fender Deluxe emulation on the Roland Cube series (the reverb
gives a little life as well). I'm thinking of getting the Boss Fender Deluxe
emulation pedal (or even the Line 6 Pocket POD) so that I can carry this
tube sound around in my gig bag. I know it's not a "purist" sound, but I
like it, anyway.

But nothing works for the real reso sound as well as good micing - however,
since I tend to drift around the stage a bit when I'm not singing, this is
not really an option unless I get a clip-on.
