I bought a copy of the Fiddlers Fakebook years ago. Best dobro accessory I
ever bought. If I'm at a pick or a festival and hear a tune I like, I just
get the name and look it up in the book. I then program the bass line into
Cubase, and if the timing is weird sometimes the tune as well ( my reading
skills are very poor ), then learn to play it very slowly.
Some of the trasnscriptions in the fiddlers fakebook are pretty close to
actual performances, the Jerusalem Ridge one is exactly what Kenny plays on
the Kenny Baker plays Bill Monroe record.
Then once I've got the music nailed as written, I speed it up and try to
leave out stuff and dobro-ise the tune, but still retain the essence of the
tune.
Actually leaving stuff out isn't difficult, it's kind of just happens :-)
fiddlers have 4 fingers we have one, the skill is in leaving out the right
notes....
Good Luck

Hey Resonateurs,
I heard Rob play Jerusalem Ridge in a ResoSummit workshop. Wow. It is one of
my favorite Kenny Baker-Bill Monroe tunes, but never thought I could lay it
out on dobro. Now at least I think I have a shot at it. Slowly.
Does anyone have a Band-in-a-Box file of this tune? I am trying to enter the
chord changes and, with all the parts and quick changes, I am having
difficulty. Maybe someone's gone there already and would share. If so,
contact me off list and thanks in advance. Other suggestions welcome.
Andy
