Thanks for the suggestion re: the fake book, I'll probably pick it up. As
far as leaving out notes, Rob harped on that in his workshops at ResoSummit.
As you say, the art is in picking which notes!

I bought a copy of the Fiddlers Fakebook years ago. Best dobro accessory I
ever bought. If I'm at a pick or a festival and hear a tune I like, I just
get the name and look it up in the book. I then program the bass line into
Cubase, and if the timing is weird sometimes the tune as well ( my reading
skills are very poor ), then learn to play it very slowly.
