What I've done is to bring my dobro as far as I can, usually getting
all the way to the plane door. If the crew can, they'll check it in
a cabin closet, and then I'll get it as I exit the plane.
If that option doesn't exist, a flight attendant will do a "gate
check" having it placed in the plane's storage. When I get off, it's
always waiting for me on the ramp just outside the plane, without
fail so far.
BTW, I didn't attend the reso summit and am extremely jealous. I
will be there next year!
