Kathy im sorry i really assume too much ,
Are you playing your reso lap style? or did you purchase a roundneck ?
There are a couple of good reso players that ive seen in Cola , one is Dr
Larry Klien he plays a sheerhorn in Bill Wells bluegrass band and he plays in
another rockabilly type band im not sure of their name but they are listed in
free times quiet often.
There is another band called Darlene and the reflections of bluegrass. i think
their res-oist
is actually from RockHill ive only seen him once but hes really smooth .
they have a bluegrass jam session in Batesburg-Leesville on the 3rd Saturday
each month.
I occationally see 2-3 good players there and you might find someone who
teaches there or at Bills music shop on Meeting street in west columbia . he has
a really great old time music store/pickin parlor .there are a few guys there
that are good pickers ,
and there an old guy that comes there occationally named M.J Holden , He makes
his own reso,s and he plays great , most likely been doing it for 60-70 years.
There are a ton of old timers there , good place....two of the guys that go
there actually played with Snuffy Jenkins and Pappy Sherrill .

I will stop rambleing now hope this helps get you started in some way.
    Ben

is my new Paul Beard Goldtone.

And it came in the mail yesterday. I listened to all the great tips from this
group and kept my Hummingbird and bought the reso directly from PB. I was sooooo
excited when it came, however, I can't make it sound like music. Hopefully that
will change. Betty, I took your advice and arranged for a lesson from Mike
Witcher while I'm in TN over the Christmas holiday. I also ordered a Cindy
Cashdollar DVD. I'm on my way!

So does anyone know of a reso-instructor in the Columbia SC area?

Kathy
