Subject:[RESOGUIT-L] Holiday Presents
Date:Sunday, December 23, 2007  22:25:49 (-0500)
From:Andy Katz <andy.katz @.......net>

Some thoughts for great holiday presents for resonator guitarists:

We need a way to get/stay in touch with dobro players of all levels,
abilities and interests. Around the world. A "place" to learn the music, the
history and the possibilities of this fine and wacky instrument, and to
share our common appreciation of resonator guitarists and their music. (Oh,
I guess Poob took care of that one.)

What about an annual dobro get-together. It could include the best players
on the planet and pickers from across North America. It could be held on a
beautiful gothic campus in Nashville, and each evening we could see top
bands perform. (Oh, that's right, I was at ResoSummit. Thanks to Rob and
Betty, and those excellent teachers.)

Well, we could use some good regional dobro workshops led by an excellent
teacher who explains it all (including theory) really clearly. (Wait a
minute; Jimmy Heffernan's been doing that as well as anyone could).

Instruments. We need some really good builders, and choices for different
budgets, tastes and styles. (Done. That's Paul Beard, Tim Scheerhorn and a
host of other luthier-magicians.)

Well, Santa or not, it looks like we're well taken care of. Thanks again to
those mentioned above, plus all the rest of you coneheads out there who make
playing the dobro so much fun. Best wishes for a happy, healthy 2008.

Andy
