There are many good string manufacturers out there. In terms of strings sounding
very good and holding up a long time, in my experience you can't find any better
than John Pearse. They hold up extremely well, and sound very good. They have
always lasted the longest on my instruments. I would recommend set #3100 -
Phospher Bronze. The gauges are from hight to low - 16, 18, 27, 39, 49, 59.
Here in Ohio, strings are subjected to high humidity in the summer and extreme
dryness in the winter. I can gig with these strings and keep them on longer than
any other strings I have tried including J42's. I also like the way J42's sound,
but they have never held up the way the Pearse strings do.
