Hey Dan,

That sounds like a tuning Jerry Byrd might have used?  If you check out BRAD'S
PAGES OF STEEL, there's a section devoted to tunings and there's a bunch of them
listed, even including some different 8 string tunings.  I keep my OMI 8 string
tuned G6th by adding two E strings at the 4th and 8th string positions.  That's
what St. Mike used on his "Eight String Swing" album.
