==>To add confusion to the mix, I believe that Helm's steel (William's
steeler) was tuned to (what's been commonly referred to) E13 (although
there has been controversy about the nomenclature, it's closer to E6)

As steel moved into the honky tonk era and Bud Isaacs shocked the steel
world with a couple of pedals, the steel morphed into E9:
F#
D#
G#
E
B
G#
F#
E
B
G#
E
B
Mike Auldridge has adapted the above to reso by tuning the top 8 strings
to C9, sans pedals of course. My brain can't do that. Mike has no such
problem....
This is the way the country side went....The swing side stayed with 6th
tunings.
For reso G6th on a 6 string I'd recommend.
1. D .017
2. B .018
3. G .026
4. E .030
5. D .035
6. G .056
Have fun!!!
