Hey Howard,

I don't think Bud Isaacs had a 12 string tuning tho? I thought he played
"Slowly" for Webb Pierce on a 8 string Bigsby with possiby two or at the
most three pedals on it......and everyone went nuts trying to figure out what
they were listening to! Me, I just slid my double 8 Fender "table guitar" under
the bed for a couple of years. I wonder where that Bud Isaacs Bigsby is today?
I'm sure over on the Steel Guitar List they'd know......

To me, there were three *major* events in the development of the pedal steel,
(1) was Bud Isaacs' intro to Webb Pierce's "Slowly," (2) was the incredible
intro Buddy Emmons did for Ray Price's "Nightlife," and (3) was John Hugey's
equally incredible intro to Vince Gills' "Look at Us." All the other great steel
guitar instrumentals fall into place behind these.......to me anyways.

But I'm still still STILL havin' wayyyy more fun with Reso-guitars than I ever
did with steel guitars, altho every now and again......I kinda miss that "sound".

Richie (still tryin' to stay warm, lol.)
